An Egyptian Dentist is Elected President of the American Academy of General Dentistry in Southern California

In a significant acknowledgment of Egyptian scientific expertise abroad, Dr. Mahfouz Gereis has been elected President of the American Academy of General Dentistry in Southern California, the largest professional organization representing general  dentists, with over 40,000 member practitioners in the United States

The inauguration ceremony took place on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in a formal setting, attended by prominent officials and leaders from the dental profession and the community. Among the distinguished attendees was His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Hossam Eldeen Aly, Consul General of Egypt in Los Angeles and the U.S. West Coast

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Aly praised Dr. Gereis’s remarkable professional and scientific achievements, expressing pride in seeing an Egyptian assume such a prestigious position. He emphasized that this accomplishment reflects the outstanding contributions of Egyptians in various fields on the global stage, particularly in medicine and healthcare. He then introduced Dr. Gereis, who delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech

The event also saw the presence of the President of the American Academy of General dentistry (AGD), the President of the California Dental Association (CDA), and California’s representative to the American Dental Association (ADA), alongside notable figures in the field, dental leaders, and members of the Egyptian and Arab communities in Southern California
